Delicias is one of the most desirable areas of the Southern Nicoya Peninsula because it has abundant water, and is centrally located, with easy access to all the favorite beach towns such as Santa Teresa and Montezuma, while also being a short drive to Cobano for groceries, going to the bank, etc.
The eastern part of Delicias has incredible ocean views, including many houses along the cliff in the “Horizontes” area, as well as a few hotels, a yoga retreat center (Anamaya), and the area’s only “Mariposario” (butterfly garden.)
A cattle area for decades, there are now some small farms appearing in Delicias, and an eco village.
Delicias center has two small grocery stores (pulperias) and one of the best restaurants in the area, Tierra y Fuego. At the time of writing this, it’s rated the #1 best restaurant in Montezuma. The Italian family that owns it produces much of the food they serve on their farm, such as the eggs used in the pasta, tomatoes, greens, and even coffee, which is not normally grown in the beach areas.
