If you are an experienced surfer, medium or you just want to learn this beautiful sport before it is to late, this is the perfect place to do so.

Why? Because the Nicoya Peninsula offers the best conditions and options for surf year-round. On one side, is Montezuma. Its orientation south-east Pacific, protect their beaches from the wind and high tides constantly creating gentle waves perfect for beginners of all ages, even if you are in your mid-sixties!. Although you have to walk 30 min to get to this beautiful absolute reserve of fauna and flora, on the way you might see withe-face monkeys, howler-monkeys, butterflies, iguanas and many more.

On the other side, is Mal Pais, Santa Teresa and Hermosa. A favorite among surfers who visit Costa Rica and is not for nothing, since thanks to its West Northeast Pacific guidance receives all the swell of the Pacific throughout the year. Making it one of the most constant beaches in the world. Furthermore, it also offers several options for all tastes and styles: beach breaks, point-break and outer-reef allowing to surf rights as much lefts. From the water, the surfers can appreciate a lush green coast without buildings, making it the closest thing to surfers paradise.

From the outside, this may seem like hard work and it is! Paddle, swallowing salt water, pass the set and wait for your wave ... but when it comes and you take it, stand up and you realize you are actually riding the wave, it is a unique sensation. You feel peace and freedom almost like flying and makes all that effort worth trying again!

For those who want to start in this fantastic sport that for some it becomes a lifestyle, it is best to begin with an instructor who will provide you with the necessary board that can fit your personal characteristics. Usually, all beginners stand up at the first class. However, if you want to surf is advisable to take more classes. In the area there are several schools that offer all types of packages, the best courses are 1, 2 or 3 weeks. After the 3rd day, you'll know whether this attempt was enough or if you want to keep surfing all your life.
